The 81st Academy Awards was held last night. I had to watch the entire show, including the red carpet interviews. :) One of the highlights of the evening was a medley of best original song nominations: A.R. Rachman (Slumdog Millionaire) and Peter Gabriel/Thomas Newman (Wall-E). A.R. Rachman performed "Jai Ho" and "Osaya" accompanied by dancers and TAIKO DRUMMERS! The pulsing beat of the taiko drums integrated nicely with the song. John Legend performed "Down to Earth" with the Soweto Gospel choir. The performance showcased multiculturalism at its best.
